Interview
I interviewed for the Digital Marketing Manager role. Was contacted by their internal recruitment team post-application, had a telephone screening with them and they thought I would be a good fit for the role.
First round was an interview with a marketing leader and was very strange and uncomfortable to say the least. It was clear from the onset this person has a very unique interview style and wanted to gauge who I was as a person, rather than whether my experience matched to fulfil the criteria of this position. I was asked rather bizarrely how old I was which surprised me, and I could sense some hesitation from the marketing leader as to why someone in their "20s" could do this jobs (even though I had ample experience doing a similar role and seniority at much larger companies). I was further questions like "what would be dream job be?" & "If I was to die tomorrow what would I be proud of most?" Yep - I'm not making this up I was actually asked this! (Sidenote: Aveva, Whatever happened to the status quo interview questions like 'tell me about your experience' or 'why are you interested in working here?!)
Granted, I never progressed to the next stage as the feedback I received was the marketing leader was worried I would move on shortly after starting the job. (I believe this was in reference to her asking me about what I do in my personal time and we got discussing around how I design websites, and I think they assumed I would be starting a business and would leave shortly after. This is actually not the case) Very strange interview/feedback, but I think I dodged a bullet here. The recruiter was kind enough to call me with feedback which is refreshing and we did have a laugh about this.
