The first interview had 3 different team members. It consisted of a Tech manager, Tech lead, and Project Manager equivalent type position. We had a great chat and I was asked some general coding questions. It was a great and positive interview. They said the next step was to go to a team interview and they would contact me by Tuesday (it was friday).
Tuesday came and went... so did the week. I followed up and the recruiter heard nothing. He then said I should know by the following Monday. Monday came and went, and so did the week. So on and so forth. I finally heard back that they went with another candidate with more experience after a while of ghosting.
This means that instead of just saying they needed someone with more experience, the strung me along until they found someone, took them through the whole process, and only then told me.
Do better. If you are not interested just say so, it isn't a big deal. Job hunting is stressful enough as it is, I would rather spend my energy with employers that are actually interested in me for the position.
