I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Academy Sports + Outdoors (Katy, TX) in Oct 2011
Interview
The interview was scheduled by the manager of the department I was interviewing with. It was scheduled for a week in advance and then the time was confirmed the day before. The actual interview took place in the managers office and others came in throughout the process. Everyone seemed very nice but there did seem to be a little uncertainty about the whole process. On the surface the environment seemed good but there was some underlying feeling of strain.

Interview
Wonderful environment! they were so welcoming and kind. I didn't end up working here, but one of the best interview processes I've ever had. Interviewed with 3 people in the final round
The interview was around 45 minutes, and the interviewer was relatively nice and ask about basic questions. They do care whether you have a retail background or not when being interviewed.
Interview with several Buyers, DMM's, and VP's over a few hours. The interviews aren't very structured and seem to be pulled out of thin air. Overall, it was a good experience.
