I recently did 3 interviews, all of which seemed to go well, with no indication to the contrary (I mean why keep advancing me if there was an issue right?) only to receive a generic "better luck next time" email from the recruiter I had been working with, and the company absolutely refused to provide any feedback on what went wrong. I actually pointed out to the recruiter that there are real people with hopes and dreams at the other end of those rejejection emails they fire and forget; but, of course they didn't care, I no longer represented a credit for them or whatever.
I ended up messaging the CEO of the company on LinkedIn as an FYI. Apparently he did read it, which is nice, and I received a call from someone in HR management who I had to ask if they were taking me seriously at one point since the whole call was pretty patronizing. Anyway, I finally received some feedback. Part of which was that everyone was doing all three interviews (a detail that would have alleviated a lot of the frustration but they refused to provide the first time). However, the reason I was told I wasn't selected was because the interviewer said I really wanted to be in cybersecurity and was just takingthe job in the meantime. Now, what I told him was I started out pursuing Cyber initially, which didn't work out, but discovered I really wanted to do coding (why else would I go through a 12 wk coding bootcamp, for fun?). A fact the interviewer might have realized if he was actually listening and wasn't in such a hurry to get off the call. So in the end, I was rejected because the interviewer is incompetent and I never had the chance to clarify anything since they refused to provide any feedback. My question now is, since it has been identified there was an error on the interviewer's part, why haven't I received a job offer yet if that's why I was rejected?
