I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Achievement First (Brooklyn, NY) in Jan 2014
Interview
I sent in my application first to the Connecticut office, where I was invited for a phone interview and the interviewer made me feel welcomed and asked me personal questions and scenarios of how I would teach a classroom. I told her that I was interested in New York so she sent my application to the New York office. There I met with one of the recruitment staff members in a phone interview, where she asked me similar questions to learn more about myself and my experience. She then forwarded my information to the elementary school recruitment person, and had me apply for a co-teacher position also. I scheduled my in-person interview where I visited the school, had a tour, and had a sample 20-minute lesson to 4th graders.
They were very kind and helpful throughout the process, and afterwards I had a debrief with the principal. They were very kind to me throughout and offered me the position on the spot for the Teacher-In-Residence. I didn't get the co-teacher though. They were also super helpful, as they knew I had another interview with Success Academy and actually had me meet with a staff member who taught there last year.

Question 1
What would you have done differently in your sample lesson? What do you think are the positives and negatives of your lesson?
The first round includes a pre-recorded interview. If you successfully pass that round, you will be invited to a one-on-one interview with a recruiter. Lastly, they will email you within the same week with your offer

Question 1
How would I go about correcting a higher up, when they continue to make a mistake pronouncing a students name?
There’s an initial phone call that is first part of the interview, and then you complete the second part of the application where you answer interview questions via video. It’s not live but you record yourself answering the questions within a certain time limit. Afterwards, once you get accepted by the program you get an offer from a school and you do one final interview (supposed to be around 90 minutes with demo lesson, role play, questions about your teaching philosophies/techniques) with the school’s administration.
