      Marketing Coordinator Interview

      Nov 26, 2015
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ActivePDF in Oct 2015

      Interview

An outsourced HR professional sent me a long list of questions via email. It basically asked me to prove how much digital marketing I know, my current salary, and why I am looking for a new job. My phone interview experience was negative, to put it lightly. I felt like I was being attacked over the phone regarding my professional history. It's almost as if he thought that I lied on my resume. After being grilled with all of these questions about my work experience, he stated "I enjoyed talking to you." Unfortunately, I can't say the same for him! He referred me to management to see if they would like to interview me in person. An ActivePDF employee then requested an interview with me. So on to the in-person interview... I basically was asked the same questions the phone interviewer asked me. I could tell that the chemistry between the two interviewers and I was nonexistent, so I left after just 20 minutes. I wasn't disappointed at all when I never heard from them again. It seems like they want a jack of all trades who has a few years of experience, which is quite hard to find. I have a plethora of marketing experience, but I lack B2B experience.

      Interview

I applied online and got a phone call the next day from a recruiter the company hired to screen candidates. He emailed me a list of questions I had to type out answers to as well as provide answers to my experience and knowledge working with social media, SEO, blogging, etc. After I sent him my answers we talked on the phone for an hour and he pretty much just went over all of my answers on the form I filled out. I finished the interview with very negative feelings. He was trying to figure out how old I was by asking what year I graduated from college. He also gave me unwanted/unsolicited "personal" advice which I thought was inappropriate as this had nothing to do with my qualifications for the job. He forwarded my answers to the HR manager who followed up with me a week later inviting me for an in person interview. I decline the offer as I did not have a good experience with their recruiter. In a professional manner, I explained to the HR manager what had happened in my first interview and I never heard a response back from her.
