Their interview process ended up being much longer and less transparent than what was initially communicated. I was originally told the process would consist of a recruiter screen, a technical discussion, an in-person onsite, and then an offer decision.
However, before the onsite they added a “TypeScript practical,” which was actually just a React coding exercise without TypeScript. I completed that and then went through the onsite. After the onsite, they added yet another step: a conversation with the co-founders, followed by references if that went well—none of which had been disclosed upfront.
I provided a wide range of availability for the co-founder conversation, but they scheduled it more than a week out. Then, on a Sunday, they asked if I could meet sooner, which I accommodated. I felt that conversation went well, but it still took nearly another week before they ultimately decided to reject me.
