      Product Manager Interview

      Sep 14, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Vilnius
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Adform (Vilnius) in Aug 2022

      Interview

I had a phone call and 2 video calls. The phone call and the 1st video call were managed by a very warm, professional, and friendly HR specialist. Only good words for her. Although, the rest of the process was a disaster. The 2nd video call with another HR person and Product Director was a mess. Most of the time was dedicated to the Director presenting her slides (which indicated their product process). There was a lack of time for discussions about my work, experience, and skills. So, the call was about this dry, theoretical information for their product process (which is so typical for corporations). And it's a funny thing actually, that they say they're not a corporation, but something rather between a startup and corporation. These guys have probably never worked in a startup, to call themselves such. After the 2nd call, I received a rejection and I asked for feedback. Had to wait for it. Once I received it, apparently I was not a good fit, because they were lacking some kind of skills, which I didn't even have a chance to show, because for most of the call we were reviewing their stupid corporational process. :D The whole process took 1 month and 1 week, which is way too long to be rejected.

      Product Manager Interview

      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Adform (Mumbai) in May 2023

      Interview

The recruiter was helpful and responsive; however, the in-person interview experience was very poor. I had to submit a case study about a week ahead of presenting in-person. When I arrived at their office, one of the hiring managers met me in the lobby while literally eating a bowl of snacks. She had the bowl in one hand, and shook my hand with the other while still munching. Starting off the case study, the interviewer said she would project my slides from her own laptop. She then started sharing a presentation that was submitted by a different candidate. When I pointed it out, she starting searching for my presentation in an internal messaging thread that I could literally see on the large screen. Just goes to show how much they care about the candidate experience, or their own internal coordination. The interviewer finally found my slides and we started with the presentation, which I feel went okay. During the follow-up, a lot of questions seemed lost in translation. One of the interviewers kept asking me what I would bring to 'Refinement'. Seemed like there was more to the term internally, than the industry standard of Product Backlog Refinement. Made me feel like they were looking for some internal 'right answer', rather than the core theme of product development. Things continued to seem lost in translation when discussing scenarios that could potentially go wrong with the product. It wasn't clear whether they wanted to talk about technical errors, edge cases, or security issues. Still felt like they were looking for some internal 'right answer'. Toward the end, one of the interviewers said they had to leave, but could take one question. When I asked one around strategy, they seemed a bit irritated that I asked the question at all. Not sure if I was supposed to politely decline or go ahead and ask. If asking was awkward, why offer at all? After the interview, there was brief office tour which went okay. Overall, I'm somewhat relieved that it didn't work out. Throughout the process, I kept getting signals that this isn't the right company for me, and the awkwardness I felt during the interview gave me second thoughts whether I should be investing my career with AdForm.

      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Adform (Vilnius) in Apr 2017

      Interview

The interview was somewhat informal, more like a friendly chat, interviewers however, were a bit snobbish and looked "tired of all this crap". All in all not the best wibe they have.
