I rarely leave interview reviews, but after four rounds I felt this one was worth sharing.
The recruiter and hiring director were both pleasant, and I made it clear throughout the process that I was excited about the opportunity, even though it meant taking a significant pay cut.
The first interviews went very well. We had great conversations about my HR Business Partner experience, my partnership with sales leaders, and my experience using HR technology to improve processes. I left feeling confident.
After the final interview, I received a generic rejection email the next day. I asked both the recruiter and hiring director for feedback and never received a response. I eventually learned that the reason was I hadn’t demonstrated strong relationships with sales. That surprised me because we spent a significant amount of time discussing exactly that, and it’s one of the strongest parts of my background.
After four interviews, I expected more transparency and professional courtesy. In the end, I know I dodged a bullet and so should you!
