I was invited into nondescript conference room and several people took turns interviewing me one on one for roughly 30 minutes each. I applied for a senior technical role so I was prepared for a whiteboard session but the room did not possess a whiteboard. I expected a technical interview and while they asked some technical questions, I soon realized that most of the people interviewing me did not possess the breadth and depth of security experience that you might be accustomed to at other organizations. Each person I spoke with had admirable technical and management backgrounds but had come from other areas of technology and described a fractured security org with little continuity in leadership. I was about an hour into the interview when I concluded that AAP was not a good fit or opportunity but I completed the process anyway. I was interviewed for roughly 5 hours, each person operated from their own script with their own agenda, and I was not once offered anything to drink.
