Interview
It was the 1st interview with an HR Representative. Though the pre-interview email communication gave off the impression that it would be a formal meeting, the interviewer presented in a rather casual and unprofessional way. He was late, didn't turn on the camera, and appeared unfamiliar with the role. Indeed, he gave contradictory information against the job description that most AML professionals would see as a "red flag." The interview was rather short and mainly spent clarifying the key job requirements that should have been covered in the job ad but were not, e.g., it is actually a greenfield role while the job ad presents it as a well-structured environment. Also, the reporting line was different from the job ad. For a senior role that carries significant impact and requires highly specialized skill and knowledge, qualified candidates will be limited. The 1st round of interviews, after system CV screening, should be with the line manager or whoever has the technical depth to verify the skill, knowledge, and experience. I don't see how a smooth chit-chat with an HR generalist whose behavior doesn't demonstrate the company culture can be an accurate assessment.
