      Product Success Manager Interview

      Jul 17, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate

      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Aha! in Jul 2023

      Interview

This was a challenging interview experience for me but it was super well structured. It started with an initial call with a recruiter after I had applied online. This call was fairly easy, just wanted to get a sense of your overall product experience. Next call was with a group manager, also very pleasant but dug more into the weeds from a product strategy and execution perspective. Challenging interview but not too bad. I was thrilled to make it to the 3rd round which was with the VP of Product Success. The call went a little longer than expected, I was pretty beat by the end of it! Dug more into my experience with product strategy and really set the expectations of the role itself. I know that a lot of reviews have bashed this part of the process but I really felt that she was doing a great job to ensure that I would be the right fit for her department/team. I unfortunately didn't make it to the product demo step but I did have a 1:1 follow-up call with the VP a few days later. I really appreciated that she took the time to share the news with me directly and also offer pointers on how I could come back to them in the future (eg. focus more on working at a high growth org., being responsible for P&L, etc.) All in all, despite being disappointed that I wasn't selected to work at Aha! right now, I do believe there is a path to getting there in the future and the interview process overall was an excellent experience. I'm sure this structure is reflected in many other aspects of the business which is why it's such a highly desirable company to work for. Until our paths cross again!

Recruiter interview, hiring manager interview, director interview. that's as far as I got and didn't get further. However, I believe the next steps were to do a product demonstrate with a VP. Then lastly, an interview with the founder.

      Interview

The interview process itself was efficient and well organized, and the recruiter was communicative throughout. I appreciated receiving a direct rejection conversation rather than a generic email. That said, the evaluation felt exceptionally strict. Despite having a background that aligned closely with the job description, I was not advanced past the first hiring manager interview due to a competency they were assessing. The decision appeared to be heavily weighted on one conversation and one interviewer’s perspective, with limited opportunity to provide clarification or additional context. My impression is that the team is seeking near-perfect alignment rather than strong overall fit and growth potential. Candidates with highly specific experience in every evaluated area may fare best. While I respect the team’s standards, the process may feel unforgiving for candidates with transferable or adjacent strengths.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Aha! in Dec 2025

      Interview

The recruitment process at Aha! requires significant persistence. After my third application in four years again went unanswered, I eventually felt I had to reach out to the VP of Customer Success to receive any engagement (I was only contacted by a recruitment team member - not the VP - who actually blocked me on LinkedIn so I couldn't send any follow up messages!). While the subsequent correspondence was professional, the most likely underlying reason for the initial silence was disappointing. I learned through internal channels that my application was flagged because, as a former Aha! customer (for 10 years), I had raised concerns during a week-long service outage. Despite the issue being on their end, my advocacy and eventual frustration for a resolution was most likely interpreted as being 'difficult.' It is concerning that a company would potentially disqualify a candidate for providing legitimate customer feedback in the past. I would have hoped this was seen as a positive. ** I know Aha! will deny this as the reason - but I am confident my source is correct as I did not disclose this previous support issue to them prior to me reaching out. The fact that the same roles remain open in my region for extended periods suggests a low appetite for risk and a potential hiring bias. I was previously a huge fan of Aha! however this experience highlighted a culture of stagnation which doesn't feel like a healthy fit. I won't be applying again.
