      Maintenance Technician Interview

      Dec 9, 2019
      Anonymous employee
      Fremont, CA
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Air Liquide (Fremont, CA) in May 2018

      Interview

My initial interview was a phone interview with the manager for my position. He was really easy to talk to and explained the position very well. I then was called about 2-3 days later by HR to inform me that the manager would like to bring me out for an on site interview. I accepted. I received an email from the site office coordinator in Fremont, CA. She told me that I had to be onsite at 9:00am sharp and to not arrive early or late and to call her at her extension. I showed up in the parking lot at 8:45am and waited until 9:00am to walk in the door. I dialed her extension with no answer. I tried calling her for about 40 minutes with no answer. I finally saw someone walking by and immediately told them I was there for an interview and had not spoken to anyone. They asked who my interview was with and I told them. After waiting another 30 minutes I was walking out the door when I heard my name from one of the senior techs. He brought me into an office to conduct my interview or lack there of. We literally just talked about our military service for 30 minutes. I was then introduced to another senior tech and once again was not asked a single question. This lasted about another 30 minutes of us just having small talk. The manager then walked in and said he wanted to take me on a site walk through. He informed me about all aspects of the job and was extremely helpful in answering my questions. He actually changed my mind because I was 100% certain after the unprofessional 2 hours that just went by. I left the site and flew home the next day. I received an offer letter about a week later. I was scheduled to do a physical through HR and it went really smoothly. Had all the proper paperwork waiting at the clinic. I then had to do a drug screen which none of the paperwork was sent and waited 6 hours to finally get it sent. Overall I accepted the job due to the manager I met. Everything else felt so unorganized and unprofessional that I almost did not take the job. 2 years later I’m glad I did.
