I applied online. I interviewed at Aiven (Helsinki, Southern Finland)
Interview
The interview and initial application process was simple enough, but to get into this job, they wanted a blog post to "prove" you could do the work. I had provided a relevant technology writing portfolio for them so they could see multiple examples of my work. They still insisted I do, what I estimated, roughly 10 hours of work to create a blog post. I asked what the compensation was for that and they said "a job or if we publish it, 40 euros." I have never laughed at someone in an interview, but here I actually laughed and said, "That blog post would be roughly 800-1000 euros of work as a freelancer. Thank you for your time, but I'll be ending this process now."
