I applied through college or university. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Alarm.com (Bloomington, MN) in Mar 2015
Interview
This is after a short phone interview that they decided to bring me in a few weeks after.
Upon entering their floor of the Wells Fargo Plaza tower and a short tour of the floor, I was sent into a room with water and a nice view off the 24th floor. Everyone, including the three team members sent in the room were full of smiles. The questions for this position included scrutinizing my resume such as what I did at my previous and current jobs. They asked questions that gauged how well I can trouble shoot issues and what the steps were for that. They then asked me to explain what Alarm.com does as if I was "talking to a friend" and why you want to work for Alarm.com. They also asked for a joke. I had prepared for one in advance but they knew I prepared for it by how I delivered it...
After the questions, I was given an ipad of the web application and testdrove the software. With no knowledge, I had to figure out how to do key aspects of the application and write down instructions. After that came what I thought were logic puzzles... nope. I had to do a grammar and written portion. The written portion was titled X-factor and asked that you write something that no other applicant can... so I wrote java code.
All in all it was pretty positive, but I would rate it much more positively if I didn't feel as if I was pressured into the meeting room right away. I wanted to tour the main rooms more intimately.
I got a second interview for next week for them. Wish me luck.

Question 1
As if you were explaining to a friend, explain what alarm.com does and tell them why you want to work for them.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Alarm.com (Minneapolis, MN)
Interview
Four people from Alarm.com interviewed me virtually. They were very kind, but it seemed like they were also just figuring out how to conduct interviews virtually. They asked hypothetical questions about how I might respond to a given situation, and then they asked me a brain teaser. The one downside was this: the company ghosted me after the interview. Even after I emailed the recruiter asking about a status on my interview, I received nothing.

Question 1
Q: Tell us about a time when you and a team failed, and how did you overcome it?
I applied online. I interviewed at Alarm.com in Jan 2020
Interview
There was a phone interview first where they asked behavioral questions which was very easy and they immediately scheduled for an In-person Interview for next week. It was in Bloomington MN. There were 3 Interviewers in the Panel and they were very friendly. They asked similar behavioral questions and then they asked a few troubleshooting questions with some sample calls. They also gave me an Ipad and was asked to resolve an issue with the help of their knowledge base. Finally there was a logical puzzle which I had to solve. The Interview lasted about an hour. It was an easy Interview but I'm not sure who they are exactly looking for. After 2 weeks I received an email that they ended up moving forward with another Candidate.

Question 1
Tell us a time when you troubleshooted something on your own
I only did the phone interview. They asked me a lot of technical questions based on their products. I wasn't expecting those type of questions right away in a phone interview without knowing the products.
