I first had a phone screen with a company recruiter and the next step was a 45 minute Zoom interview with the hiring manager. He didn't tell me anything about what the job entailed and just interrogated me as to why I hadn't worked anywhere for 5 years; wanted to know exactly why I left my last three jobs; and then questioned my marketing abilities. He also wanted to see an article I wrote so that he could "get some ideas" for himself. Which is ridiculous. We also ran out of time because he was so focused on getting through his questions list that there was no time left for me to ask any questions. Any hiring manager that gets focused on the length of time you have been at a job is always a red flag in my book. They also wanted this person to run the marketing department without hiring a Director of Marketing so it would be doing the job of a Director but with a Marketing Manager salary. No Thanks! I pulled myself out of the interview process after the interview with the Hiring Manager.
