I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Alarm.com (London, England) in May 2025
Interview
After an initial interview with the recruiter, I was left waiting for two weeks with vague, inconsistent updates.
I was told I was "top of mind" and that delays were due to scheduling issues, travel, and technical problems. Then, after two weeks I received a “generic” rejection email stating they were moving forward with other candidates who had applied directly.
The entire process felt like I was being kept in a holding pattern while they prioritised others – without the honesty or respect to simply say so earlier. In other words, what was frustrating was the lack of clarity and the shifting narrative: first it was scheduling issues, then technical problems, and finally a change in direction: while I understand that hiring priorities can shift and competition is tough, a more honest and timely communication would have gone a long way.
This kind of disorganised and misleading communication wastes candidates’ time and reflects poorly on the company's internal alignment and values.
I hope Alarm.com takes this kind of feedback seriously and improves its communication and decision-making transparency going forward.
