There were several rounds, the first was a discussion with the hiring manager and another person from outside the team. That was less technical and went through my past experience. The next round was with the hiring manager and two people from the team; it was more technical and we covered work experience.
The entire interview process was rather chaotic with emails/calls going unanswered for several days. One of the individuals in the second interview seemed really exhausted. The person from HR wouldn’t provide information about the benefits unless an offer was made.
After the interviews, I was offered a job for 65k and was told the position paid between 65-90k, and they provided information about the benefits. After seeing the benefits, I tried to negotiate a higher salary (75-80k) instead of the 65k which was offered, I was told that it was a red flag and they rescinded the offer.
Overall it seemed like a good company and the work sounded interesting; albeit the benefits are terrible (no PTO for the first two years, but it increases sharply afterwards). I’ve never had a company rescind a job offer when negotiating salary.
