I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at AllianceBernstein (New York, NY) in Nov 2012
Interview
Applied through their website. Received an email from HR within a couple days. Had a preliminary phone interview/screening that lasted about 45 minutes. Heard from HR that I made it to their super day in New York. This super day was extremely unusual. There were six interviews with a number of managers and associates - mainly focusing on "why pwm" and "walk me through your resume and interests". That part was normal as I saw it. However, there was a case study exercise that was definitely unusual. The group of interviewees split into two groups and read a case about some grocery store that was about to open up and had to buy plastic bags or something. Meanwhile, there was a panel of managers and HR people (including the HR director) who watched and took down notes on our interactions within the team. From there we had to assemble a presentation on dry erase boards and large notebooks and present to the panel our conclusions and plans. An uncomfortable format as you really didn't receive much feedback for your effort.

Interview
Not too bad at all. Simply sat you down and asked you pretty basic questions. Nothing too crazy. Both the interviewers were extremely nice. Just go into it prepared with a solid understanding of the company and what they do and you will be more then fine.
