I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Allstate (Nashville, TN) in Jul 2016
Interview
I applied in may of 2016. I was notified that I would need to do a interview over the phone with their hiring agency (Allstate uses a third party for interviews). I got the call, and was asked basis questions and at the end was told I would move forward in the hiring process.
I then got an online test to take, mostly customer service questions and some minor math. After the test I got an email saying I passed. I then didn't hear from Allstate at all until I called to check the status. I was then told (by this time it has been three weeks) that I would need to do a "online video interview.
The interview was set up, and was a disaster from the very start! The connection was week on Allstate's part, There was two different video chats going on with me (they were in different locations) at the same time and they were taking turns asking me questions. They couldn't hear my responses to their questions and I could barley hear them at all!!
After the video interview I was called and told that I would need to do a ride alone so they could see what skills I had in the construction side of business. The ride along was supposed to take place 3 days after the video interview, however, after it was set up and I cleared my schedule, I was called and told that the guy I needed to ride with couldn't meet me and they had no idea when he would be able to!
Two weeks later I called to follow up, and was then told he would meet me on a Monday. So I went and did the ride along and not one question was asked about my experiences in construction, also they house we went to was an unhappy insured so he spent half the day trying to make her happy. then he dropped me off at my car and said "good luck to you"
I was then at a conference with my wife ( My wife has worked for allstate for 5 years) and was told by a person that was part of the hiring team that the job was mine. Once we came home I got an email on a Monday saying they were going with someone else.
Long story short: Allstate doesn't care about you as a Veteran ( I was told this over the phone) they do not give veterans preference. They are slow during the whole hiring process, they don't follow up, and the video interview was a freaking JOKE!!!! The whole process took 2 months and I turned down other jobs because I was assured that I would get this one. I would not recommend wasting time with this company.
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Allstate (Austin, TX) in Nov 2022
Interview
Behavioral Questions from two team managers. One written and one virtual interview. Standard interview questions were asked on behavioral issues that may occur in the claims environment. Also be prepared for work management questions.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Allstate (New York, NY) in Mar 2020
Interview
There are several behavioral questions that they will ask you. Be ready to sell yourself like you’ve never done before. Managers were very nice and gave me a lot of time to think on the spot. I wrote down several notes before the interview , but realized none of the questions I was asked were things I prepared for. Just be yourself and answer respectfully and modestly.

Interview questions [2]
Question 1
HR interview was very brief (15 min max). He asked me one STAR question "Please explain a time you had to deal with a stressful situation and how did you deal with the stress"
"Do you know the type of job you applied for?"
If they liked your answer, HR will pass you on to the hiring manager.
Hiring manager asked 5 STAR questions. One on one interview.
He specifically states that it has to be STAR format.
questions were regarding behavior, how you organize, handle upset customers.
Really important to show your personality. You deal with customers all the time, so make sure you like people.
