I knew and had worked for the hiring manager several times before. I applied for the role electronically, heard from the recruiter in about 3 days, had the interview the next week and was offered the role after a couple of weeks. The manager was creating a new team and was requiring specific skills and abilities. The manager knew I had those skills and from the previous experiences, added me to the new team.
