I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at AlphaSights (London, England) in May 2017
Interview
I was contacted by a manager on LinkedIn that they were looking for native speakers of Asian languages for their new offices in Asia.
I submitted my CV, then received an e-mail with a link to an automatic video conference...which did not work. I e-mailed them about it with no luck and had to ask another manager who had contacted me on LinkedIn for contact details for a new link. Had an impression here that they're either short of staff or not well organised.
The AVA is pretty straightforward. You can test out the camera and recording for how much you want beforehand. 30 seconds to prepare and 1 minute to answer each question: What was your first job? Why AlphaSights? etc
I was then invited for a Skype interview. I talked with a manager for 40 minutes and an Associate in the local office to test my language skills. They were nice and did seem like they were interested in finding out about me as a person. The manager asked basic questions that you can find here. He did ask if I knew how they classify their clients, which I did not, and he explained them, saying it's not fair for them to expect me to know everything. I think my interview in my native language didn't go that well. I had to do a role-play of cold calling a retired CEO asking for their expertise in the sector. I wasn't very well prepared for this.
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
What other companies are you applying for? (followup: Why so few?)
1st call interview >2nd hr interview > case study interview(if passed) > final interview(if passed). all interview is proceeding with English. and native speakers are needed. and hr people were kind
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1. why I want to move my job
2. what's my long-term goal
Interview process was ok, several stages and language test as it was a particular language speaking role, only downside really was very little feedback given at the end when not successful. When I asked for a feedback call as to why I wasn’t successful they didn’t answer my question and it was a 2 mins call saying that I was just unsuccessful.
