The experience as whole was suprisingly good.
The process is as follows:
1) Telephone Interview with HR
2) Video Interview with HR
3) 2-hour video interview with a manager and VP.
- 1 hour - case study - pick 2 experts.
- 1 hour - role pay and behavioural questions
4) VP interview
I got to the last stage (VP interview) but was not offered the position. I was a little disappointed at the time, to be frank, as I had invested a lot of time into the process, after seeing the salary but being rejected was actually somewhat of a blessing in disguise. FYI, base salary is £34,000, which is pretty good to be fair.
From what I gathered in that final interview with a VP is as an associate at AlphaSights you're basically just a "headhunter" - VP words / recruiter and glorified secretary. THIS IS NOT CONSULTING!!
It's not a job that requires analytical or critical thinking skills despite it being advertised like such. The interviewer said 60% - 70% of your time will be spent "engaging and assessing" experts and advisors, which means you're just cold calling and cold emailing people on Linkedin.
My advice: Research the role properly and find out whether its truly something you want to do. I learnt the hard way in the interview itself, after bigging up my critical thinking skills and my ability to provide olutions.
Dig deeper than the AS job descriptions, look at the reviews on glassdoor and find out what the employees think, even reach out to an existing employee at AS and ask them. Thats what I did. If you're successful you and the exisiting employee that referred you will get a £2,500 referral fee. They all have LinkedIn Preimum and spend all day on Linkedin anyway so I am pretty sure they will reply quicky and be jumping at the opportunity to bag some free money if you're successful.
Personally for me, studying 4 years at a business school to become a "headhunter" and glorified secretary was not in my plan. However, if you like HR or the concept of headhuntering, this is the job for you.
