I 1st attended a recruitment presentation at my university. I then applied by sending a resume, no cover letter required. You will then be automatically (without prior screening) sent a questionnaire to fill out, containing questions like "What are you looking for in your future employer? What parts of your previous experiences make you a good fit for this position, Tell us about the thing you are most proud of in your career so far" After that, it took almost 2 weeks to get an interview invitation. It happened 2 weeks after that email. The questions were very easy, but the interviewer was literally the worst interviewer I have ever interviewed. First of all, it wasn't the interviewer I was supposed to interview according to the invitation. What struck me is that the interviewer walked in late without noting it out, did not introduce himself until I asked about his name, did not have his name on the screen, and was very far from the camera, which made the audio echoey and not so clear. Going with the interview, he was not making eye contact, but only constantly writing notes down. It is completely fine to write notes during the interview, but it's not fine to not look at all as I talk. Also, the interview felt like a recording, with the interviewer reading a list of questions in sequence, rather than making it a conversation. The interviewer's tone was very monotonic, from minute 1 to minute 45, and he sounded like he was forced to do the interview. All in all, the interview was not comforting and does not reflect the culture AlphaSights promoted in its recruitment campaigns. It felt like a very traditional interview from the 80s. My impression of AlphaSights has really changed. I was glad I didn't go to the 2nd interview, but also disappointed because I put effort in preparing while the interviewer has put zero effort.
