I had a disappointing experience during my first interview. The interviewer’s attitude came across as unprofessional from the start. I was greeted with a casual “Yo,” and when I thanked him for his time, he responded sarcastically, which immediately created an uncomfortable atmosphere.
The interview itself was also poorly structured. It began with technical accounting questions, which I did not expect for what was presented as an HR interview, and only later was I asked to introduce myself. There was little to no discussion about my background, experiences, or education. Instead, the conversation focused on very basic and repetitive questions.
The interviewer also appeared to be based outside of Luxembourg and seemed unfamiliar with the local team and role. When I asked whether my answers to the technical questions were correct, he replied that he did not know, which further added to the confusion about the purpose and direction of the interview.
What stood out most was his demeanor throughout. His communication style felt dismissive and, at times, openly mocking, particularly when I was answering questions about my strengths and weaknesses. Overall, his tone came across as unprofessional and lacking in courtesy.
Overall, the experience did not reflect the kind of respectful and well-organized environment I look for in a company. As someone considering multiple opportunities, company culture and interpersonal respect are key factors in my decision-making.
