Extremely disappointed and unprofessional. The recruiters approached me and scheduled me for a second call with a different recruiter, but he forgot and wasted my time. I emailed them and rescheduled, but guess what, he forgot again. The third time he called me, from his car. I played along because it was Amazon and got a Hackerrank challenge. I cleared that one and got my phone technical interview. The engineer was very professional and the interview went great, the problem was to count Islands in a grid, easily solvable with a BFS to find connected components in a graph. I got a date for the onsite interview, the recruiters said it was not technical and that I would not need to write any code. That sounded wrong to me so I prepared for the technical interview as recommended online. And I was right, I had to write code. The recruiter did not warned me that the interview's main focus was on systems design (scalability, load balancing, software architecture and databases) which I studied but not in depth. The engineers were great, the problems were interesting, one of them required me to implement the topological sort on a DAG. A week later I was told the engineers were happy with my interviews but not for software engineer 2, so they wanted me to join as software engineer 1 level. I did not even know I was interviewing for SE2, another massive error from the recruiters. They presented the offer to me, we negotiated salaries and we agreed on a pretty decent deal,but in the last minute, literally before signing, they withdrew the offer. The explanation was that they had made a mistake and the position they were offering me was only available for graduates so I did not qualified. Overall the process took almost two months, I had to book days off to attend the staggering 8 interviews, just to be accepted and then rejected for a stupid and discriminatory reason. Who cares how old are you if you can do the job, I'm 29 by the way. My advise, forget Amazon, apply for Google.
