I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Atlanta, GA) in Jan 2019
Interview
I applied online on January 4, 2018 and was contacted a little less than a week later by email and telephone. My interviews were conducted over Amazon Chime, which is a video conference type of software (like skype). Before the actual day of interviews, I was asked to sign up for a time slot to attend an online Interview Preparation presentation. In the interview preparation, the presenter basically broke down the Area Manager role and gave us really helpful tips on how to go about answering interview questions. She recommended using the STAR format to answer questions.
On the day of my interview, I was scheduled to video chat with two individuals (Senior Positions). Both interviewers were extremely pleasant and straightforward. They both came into Amazon as Area Managers and made their way up the ladder. They were able to give me an honest breakdown of the expectations that come with the position.
Two days later, I received a call informing me that I would receive an email the following business day with an offer detailing total compensation, location, and start date.
SN: I strongly recommend learning about Amazon's culture; especially its leadership principles. Also, phrase your response to the interview questions specifically based on the leadership principles. Finally, be honest and be yourself, and you'll be just fine.
The remainder of the questions were about hypothetical work scenarios and how i would go about resolving conflicts between associates as well area manager.
SN: All the interview questions are formatted using Amazon's leadership principles
