My experience during the onsite interview was mixed. While the in person interviews went well, the Chime connection was poor and heavy background noise outside my conference room door (loud enough for it to be distracting to both myself and heard by the video interviewer) led to a negative impact on concentration and interview performance. Additionally, my interview schedule was changed a few days before my onsite without telling me so I had to wait in the lobby for an hour before my first interview and stayed later than anticipated (was told I would interview between 10am-2:45pm. Instead I interviewed from 10:45am- 3:45pm).
I also found the writing sample odd since no recruiter or interviewer made a mention of it until after onsite when I was sent the prompt. I was given 48 hours to complete.

three step process - one hour test, forty five minutes with hiring person, then three one hour peer interviews. (not including interfacing with the original recruiter). a bit of communication gap during the process as the scheduler's email after the one hour test didn't seem to get in my email

At onset, was referred to an open role, applied and was selected for an initial screen from a recruiter. Had heard the interview process was difficult and needed to be prepared. Really need to understand the culture and core competencies of Amazon.
