We were doing experiments on Amazon hiring process. 5 of us applied to the same role. All of us got an interview. It was an easy interview for us since each of us have average 20 years of experience in the industry.
During the interview, we applied Amazon 14 leadership principles. We also used similar STAR examples during the interview. Some of us made it to the final round and some of us did not.
Conclusion: It's just pure luck to get an interview or hired at Amazon. The hiring process is a lottery process. One of the interviewer had 9 years of working experience but had no idea about the job requirement that was posted. Matter of fact, the interviewer has been in the current role for more than 2 1/2 years and no idea about the technical applications that are used in the industry. Some of the interviewers had no idea what to ask during the interview so they googled "typical questions asked by Amazon" and follow the steps.
Lesson learned: Do not spend too much time to prep for the interview. I know some people spend hours, days or weeks to prepare. I strongly recommend not to put too high hopes. Just be yourself and go with the flow. In the mean time, look for better options, there are better companies out there that never do as much advertising as Amazon.

it is good experience. The interviewer are polite and respectful. They would ask many questions like "tell me a time when..." and might drill down a bit based on your responses.

Interview
Lots of "story telling" they don't care about what you would do. Only "tell me a time you...". They take their time to interview and encourage many many weeks between rounds. The people and interviewers were extremely robotic and don't make it so you want to work there. Their reputation doesn't help either.
