I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Amazon (Irvine, CA) in May 2015
Interview
The recruiter contacted me by email for this position to set up a phone technical interview.
The technical interviewer was nice and polite but I think he was more nervous than I was. He was unwilling to engage in even a few sentences of small talk.
The phone interview consisted of a few programming questions such as
Write an atoi function.
Write a function to find pairs of number that add up to a given value.
Two of the questions were JAVA specific language concept questions, even though the job requirement was for C or JAVA.
One of which was, what is type erasure?
One question was on my approach to general problem solving.
And one programming style question.
My impression was that the interviewer had the answers to the question in front of him but did not have any in-depth understanding of the concepts. I felt that this might have been a training session for the interviewer. Granted this also might be sour grapes because I did not get an offer.
