Was contacted by a third party recruiter who suggested I apply; after a couple weeks I heard they wanted an initial interview, per an internal Amazon recruiter. The usual Amazon questions and a low pressure discussion lead to a second interview, and it started to feel promising. At this point only about 3hrs invested. After that the recruiter took a couple weeks to line up with "virtual onsite loop" which was a pretty grueling six hours of video chatting with various potential managers and peers asking the typical "tell me about a time you...." questions. They all seemed cordial and grateful for my time and the vibe was pretty positive. It's a huge time investment they ask you for. So it really sucks when a few days later the internal reviewer calls you to tell you the answer is no, but please do keep applying! It'll be worth it. Quite frustrating how they can rug pull you at the very end and only tell you they're "going with other candidates." For a pretty low-tech job like e-commerce b2b sales to have that much effort put in only to get rugged at the end really sucks. Not sure I'd waste time with them again after this.
