I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Cambridge, MA) in Jan 2016
Interview
Long and boring interview process. Lot of irrelevant interviewers and irrelevant questions. Too many interviewers asking the same question over and over again. And the questions that got repeated were very irrelevant to the position I was applying. Pretty much everyone asked me how I handled an angry end customer on the phone. I never handled an angry customer on the phone and it was odd to say that over and over again about 10 times
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Describe a technical architecture you worked on? What was one of the things that did not go well in your project? What did you learn? Describe a moment when angry customer was on the phone and you had to solve on the spot? Why do you think you should be hired
it is good experience. The interviewer are polite and respectful. They would ask many questions like "tell me a time when..." and might drill down a bit based on your responses.

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Amazon in May 2026
Interview
Lots of "story telling" they don't care about what you would do. Only "tell me a time you...". They take their time to interview and encourage many many weeks between rounds. The people and interviewers were extremely robotic and don't make it so you want to work there. Their reputation doesn't help either.
