If a job treats you poorly during the interview process, it's a good sign that you'll be treated the same (or worse) once you're on the job.
I had my first interview scheduled for a Thursday, but on that day, I received a last-minute invite to reschedule for the following Monday at 8am. When I reached out for clarification, I was told the hiring manager had decided to move it and that they assumed I had spoken with her directly. Even though it was a bit frustrating, I went ahead and accepted the new time.
The interview itself was fine, and the hiring manager said I should hear back by the end of that week or at the latest by the next Monday. I sent a thank you email following the interview with an attachment referencing something we’d discussed during the interview, but got no response not even a thank you. Unsurprisingly, I didn't hear anything until I followed up, only to find out the position had been filled.
This whole experience raised several red flags: the sudden rescheduling, the lack of clear communication, dead silence to my thank you email, and the failure to follow up as promised. These are all signs of how a company might treat you once an employee. The recruiters were kind, the hiring manager was okay and it sounds like the lapse in communication was on her end not so much recruiters. I perhaps saved myself grief with having the hiring manager as my supervisor.
Because of this experience, I would not interview with them again, and I’d recommend others be cautious as well. If you see a red flag trust your gut and move on immediately
