My virtual interview lasted 5 minutes with the HR coordinator. She told me about the benefits and then asked for my desired salary. It was way above the range. Also, I got ready for this interview and she did not even turn on her camera.
The reason I marked this as a negative experience is because she emailed me the next day to “follow up” and schedule an interview. The lack of attention to detail and disorganization looks bad on the company. I told her that we just had an interview and to let me know if there are any Senior EA positions that will pay within my desired salary range (I have almost 8 years of experience and I cannot take a 30k pay cut).
The interview process was smooth and swift. It's just the fact that I got ghosted. They said they would notify me in a week if I got a second interview, and the following week, they said they hoped to have someone picked. It's been four weeks, and I have heard nothing. I even emailed them and still didn't receive a response.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at American Express (New York, NY) in Sep 2025
Interview
I only made it through the initial phone screening. I was very excited since AMEX is known for great work life balance. My interviewer was a former EA who gleamed about flexibility within the company and the HR Team.

Interview
Intro call - 30 minutes
Initial Interview w/ hiring manager - 30 minutes (Same week)
Final Interview - 30 minutes (Week later)
Final Decision (over a week later)
Emailed automatic rejection after not a peep for over a week after final interview. Such a crappy and impersonal experience
