I was contacted by a recruiter to schedule an in-person interview with the local sales manager and the state sales manager. This was a scheduled appointment time held at a local Hilton Garden Inn. Imagine my surprise when I showed up for my interview to see six other individuals waiting for interviews. I spoke with a few of them; a couple had appointments like me (running over an hour behind schedule), the others were walk-ins who were contacted by the recruiter. The recruiter was actually there as well, but had to leave due to some "scheduling conflict"...talk about stating the obvious. Although before he left, he gave me a lame apology for the wait and assured me that the Manager will only be spending 5 minutes with the others and probably 30 minutes with me. Of course, that did not happen. My impression was that the manager was thoroughly burned out by that time and just met with me to check the box. I have over 25 years experience in various sales management roles interviewing potential candidates on a regular basis and I would never treat those individuals with this kind of disrespect who took time from their daily schedule to meet me . I see responses from the company on other posted reviews, so I know this forum is monitored. Please get some standardized policies in place to avoid this kind of disaster in the future.

Contacted by recruiter and put in touch with corporate HR person. Phone interview with HR person which led to phone interview with Regional Manager. Scheduled for in-person interview with another Regional Manager @ a Starbucks coffee house which was re-located to a hotel restaurant day of interview. On line personality test and redundant job application immediately prior to interview. Interviewer was very soft spoken and background noise of restaurant personnel preparing for dinner made it difficult to communicate. A television was on and just beside interviewer's head (in booth) and very distracting. This company gets around the age discrimination problem by requiring your birthdate on application for purpose of background check. My interviewer had approximately 20 years less business experience than I. Three different interviewers gave me three different answers to my question: Why is this position vacant?

Thank you for your feedback on our interview process! To clarify our hiring process, our interview process can take up to four weeks for our top candidates. It begins locally with the State Manager Interview which is followed by an interview with the Regional Manager and then later the background check. If a candidate is requested to complete a background check then they have been determined to be a potential top candidate. Information disclosed on the background release form is submitted directly to HR and not considered during the interview process. Year-to-date turnover for our educational division through May was 6.36 percent. We feel that it is important to that our career position is a great fit for both our Company and for the candidate.
