I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at American Fidelity Assurance Company (Peoria, IL) in Nov 2022
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter on 3 (three) separate occasions. I was skeptical since I had never reached out to this company but against my better judgment, I responded and had an interview with 2 individuals. At the end of the interview, I was informed that they were interviewing multiple candidates and that if they wanted to move forward they would contact me on Friday. No contact on Friday. Monday I received an email from a completely different person asking me to take an assessment for personality and a math and reasoning section. This was followed by multiple forms about history, personal information, and references. A week went by still never heard from anyone. Then received an email from an outside company that did a hard inquiry on my credit with no callback information. The phone number in the email did not lead to a number that you could speak to an actual person and just disconnected. They emailed all references that I had listed as well as called them day after day until they got in contact with them asking the same questions that were emailed to them. I was sent a UPS package with an origami-folded letter inside that said I was not being considered for the position. However, I was still being contacted by my references being told that they were still being contacted beyond this point, and being asked the same questions that they had already answered. I contacted the headquarters building and was transferred twice being told by a laughing individual that she would let one of the interns know that they should not still be calling my references and that they would tell them to email the vendor that they used. Mind you as stated in the beginning I never reached out to this company they came to me on three separate occasions. They claim to cater to our K-12 educators so please keep this in mind when dealing with this company. For reference, I am a disabled veteran with 11 years of government/law enforcement experience and have obtained my bachelor's in Business Administration with a very extensive background in sales along with a state-issued broker's license in real estate. Please keep this in mind before giving any of your personal information to this "company". Good luck!
