I recently navigated a prolonged and disheartening interview process with AMA that left me with a sense of disappointment and frustration. While the employees I interacted with were all pleasant and competent, the overall experience was overshadowed by significant issues.
The interview process was notably protracted, comprising five interviews and an assignment over an extensive eight-week period. While I value thorough evaluations, the timeline felt unnecessarily extended and could have been streamlined for a more efficient process.
A major source of frustration was the lack of transparency from the beginning. I was never informed of the start date or provided with a clear hiring timeline, leaving me in the dark about the progress of my application. This lack of communication contributed to unnecessary stress and uncertainty throughout the process.
The interview questions, marked by a negative tone, added to the overall disappointment. Rather than focusing on my skills and qualifications, the questions seemed designed to put me on the spot, creating an atmosphere of unease and discomfort.
Communication lapses were another significant issue where the recruiter struggled to get ahold of the hiring team, resulting in delays and confusion. Furthermore, after being verbally informed of an offer, I endured a 1.5-week wait for the final signoff. This extended period only intensified the overall sense of disorganization and unprofessionalism. Ultimately, after investing considerable time and effort, I learned that the job had been given to someone internally. This not only dashed my hopes for the role but also raised questions about the fairness and transparency of AMA's hiring practices.
I had high expectations for this opportunity and was genuinely excited about joining AMA. Unfortunately, the overall experience left me with a sense of frustration and disillusionment. I hope AMA takes these concerns seriously and works toward enhancing its hiring practices to provide a more positive experience for future candidates.
