      Communications Interview

      May 28, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at American University in Apr 2017

      Interview

Applied online for a Part-Time Communications opening. Received an email a few days later to set up a phone interview. The interview went really well, interviewer spoke of next steps and it sounded very promising. Was even told a second, in-person interview would be arranged soon. Then, never heard back. I sent a thank you email within 24 hours. That, and later follow-up attempts, received no response. Even though the position was part-time to start, I was grateful for the opportunity to join AU. Needless to say, I am very disappointed.

      Interview

The initial phone interview went very well and was positive, however, the in-person started on the wrong foot with including outdated information. The HR person listed had a name change, so security wouldn't let me in. The hiring manager during the interview seemed extremely annoyed that I arrived early and left me in a large conference room. The interviewer was rude and patronizing. Afterwards, there was zero follow-up. I hadn't planned to accept the job anyway, but I at least expected a "the position was filled" email.
