I had to work through their corporate recruiter, who never returned phone calls and passed out a resume I had submitted four years prior rather than my current resume. My address and phone number were incorrect as I had moved within that time period. All of my accomplishments and responsibilities over the past four years were also missing.
All of my dealings with the recruiter were handled by email... except for when he called my current work number and chose to speak with me during my workday at my current company (even though I had told him this was not acceptable). But once the interview was scheduled I thankfully never had to deal with him again.
During the interview, I spoke with five different people in three 45 minute sessions. There were two managers in the first interview session. One of the interviewers ended up misquoting me about a previous work experience story I had relayed, stating something that was false and damaging to my employment. And the other interviewer was unable stay awake at 9:00am. I caught his head bobbing at least a half dozen times within the 45 minutes. Unprofessional to say the least. He undoubtedly relayed the same misquoted information as the first interviewer as he was disjoined from the conversations.
My second session went well with another software manager as her disposition was sweet, her questions professional and she was attentive and engaged during the interview process. She was also the one to inform me that the previous Software Test Manager (the position I was interviewing for) had an extra-marital affair with his subordinate and ended up killing his lover and then ultimately himself after a police hunt. Obviously this in something that should have been disclosed previously by the HR representative... but, I did ask why the position was open.
The third session was incredibly smooth. Two software managers from two different teams came in with excellent preparation and questions. They were also engaged and informative. I answered their questions with ease and they were able to answer any questions I threw at them.
Had the last three people been the only three to interview me, I'm sure I would have been offered the job.
No matter, I think I wound up in a much better place.
