I applied online. I interviewed at Amyris (Emeryville, CA)
Interview
30 minute phone screen followed up an hour onsite where I met with 2 people.
I applied directly through LinkedIn and was contacted a few days later by the hiring manager. I replied with my availability but heard nothing back for a few days. I was really excited about the opportunity so I took it upon myself to follow up. We finally secured a time and had a good 30 min phone call where I was asked to come onsite.
The process was straightforward. I was greeted by the recruiting coordinator, who was fantastic/warm, and was escorted to a meeting room. Both interviewers were pleasant and answered all the questions I had regarding the role and company culture. My interview was on a Monday and I was told I would hear back by early the following week. It's been 3 weeks and I have not received a courtesy call/email. What I find funny is how the hiring manager spent a good amount of time talking about candidate experience and how he gives a personal phone call to every person who comes onsite, regardless if they get the role or not. He even referenced glassdoor and the negative reviews.
While my overall onsite was positive, I was left with a bad taste in my mouth about the company and recruiting culture after not receiving any courtesy phone call after being told to expect one.
The process is standard and nothing surprised me. However when I take the time to come in for an onsite interview the only minimal thing I expect in return is an email telling me that it wasn't a fit. It's not hard to send a auto rejection response. It's two clicks of a mouse and not doing so is very unprofessiona. I understand it slipped through the cracks but it shouldn't. Tighten up.
