I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Applebee's (Rohnert Park, CA) in Mar 2011
Interview
All server interviews are pretty much the same. You sit with management at a table in the restaurant, and they ask you questions about your past experience. For a restaurant like Applebee’s experience doesn’t matter as much as your personality. Make sure to make eye contact, and of course be friendly. The manager is trying to gage if you will be able to have pleasant interactions with their customers. A smile and a calm demeanor go a long way.
*** Tip, when you are dropping off your resume try to drop it off during a ‘dead’ time. Weekdays between 3-4pm are the best time. I’m not sure if Applebee’s still accepts in person applications, but this is the best time if they do. Good luck!

Question 1
What would you do if a customer was unhappy with the food they received?
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Applebee's
Interview
In person interview. They asked many personality fit questions. Seemed like they care more about if you fit their vibe rather than your experience or aptitude as a server. Quite liked my interviewer honestly.
“The interview process typically starts with an application review, followed by an interview with the manager to assess customer service skills, availability, and experience. Depending on the role, there may be situational or behavioural questions to understand how candidates handle teamwork, fast-paced environments, and customer interactions. Successful candidates may then proceed to onboarding and training.”
Did an interview with assistant manager, lasted five minutes and they wanted to do another interview with the head manager.
Only asked me two questions which was weird, I never had an interview like that before.
Pretty pointless imo and I don't think they respect your time well - from reading other reviews it seems quite unconviential though so maybe it was just a weird store.
