Got a call from Aptean Bangalore for a senior manager IT position. After the initial discussion, I was informed that I would need to take a 30 minute test to qualify. They sent me a link and then was incessantly called by the HR to complete the test. I did finally take the test and passed. Once I informed the HR (they never bothered to inform me, I found out when I called them),the executive started to change her tune regarding the avaliablity of the position and wanting to check with her 'Director' on the way forward. After a couple of days wait, received a mail yesterday saying though I have qualified they are putting the position on hold and would thereby retain my information on their DB for any future engagement. The position as advertised is still showing in their career section! I don't think they know what they are doing or what they want. After contacting me for an opening and then making me take an absurd test (guess they value a test score more than my 19 years of experience in the advertsied position) they then have the audacity to give a complete made up story. My sincere advised is to avoid this company. Not only are you subject to such tests, they might then arbitrarily change requirements. Not only have you effectively wasted your time,it does not even lead to an initial discussion. The case with graduate entry or a couple of years of experience might be different, for senior profiles you would be dealing with ego, competition and a sense of being replaced by their exisiting management should you turn out to be good at your job. Afterall, the exisiting 'Directors' have mouth to feed and cannot afford to take chances. Harsh as my statment be,how else do explain being contacted, qualifying and then being told the position is on hold when very well thats not the case as its still posted on their career site! The details requested below about the interview process is a moot point, as they did not even have one.
My advice to Aptean Management - Please don't employ such tactics. Have an idea of what you want and then follow through. The decision about the JD and the candidate profile should be finalised before you go looking for candidates. After you make people go through this is not the time to go back and check if the profile matches or even if the job exists. Ifyou have budgetary concerns or any for that matter, clarify, decide and then start the process. I am not sure if your HR is contacting people because they are incentivised to find a candidate and make them take a test, irrespective of the job being even real. All the universal buzz words compliant, transperent, engaged (this last one I was amused to note in your glassdoor profile) Aptean might use to project an image, its common decency to be truthful. This review might just remain on glassdoor and they might not do anything to change, its wishful thinking that they might. All the CEO acceptance and thumbs up review are just that if you do not interceed when bad processes are rampant. Sometimes, you need to step down to grassroots and shake things up and not hope, I manage the company, one bad review, so what, its no skin of my back, like it always is, people will forget and move on, until Aptean does this again. Please remember,if its happened once,it will happen again. The ball is in your court Ms. Kim Eaton, CEO/ Mr. TVN Reddy, COO/ Ms Allison Fellner, HR Head.
