Had a phone screen and four 1:1s with members of the team. Everyone was very kind, seemed like a great place to work. Three days after my interview, I got a verbal soft offer. I told them I was excited but still had other final rounds next week that I wanted to complete. They said they wanted to wait until they knew I was their first choice to extend a written offer. I got back to them that next week and said they were my first choice - I was then told that they needed to "compare me against other candidates." I heard nothing for 2 weeks. Sent a follow up email and was told that they were originally recruiting for 3 positions, but now were recruiting only for 1. A week later I received my rejection email.
