The interview process was over-done. The first stage was an introductory call with a member of the recruitment team - easy enough, they explained the role, asked preliminary questions, and set expectations for the rest of the process. Personally, they were deciding between two roles based on my application and were upfront about that. Due to this, I had another call with the Director of TA and discussed similar expectations, role descriptions, experience, etc. A bit redundant but I didn't mind as it was exciting I was being considered for two different roles. After they determined I was a better fit for role A, I was asked to prepare a 20-30 minute presentation on my approach/structure to problem solving in HR which was fine. It only took about an hour to prepare and my, now third, interview as with the hiring manager for the role (Director HR), Chief People Officer, a TA specialist, and a Finance member - a bit of overkill considering it was my real first interview with any member of the People team however, everyone was friendly. About a week later, I was advised I would be moving forward to meet with the team in person in Vancouver, receive a tour of the office, and a tour of Vancouver to discuss relocation. This was all organised extremely well and the relocation team was phenomenal. Unfortunately, as the day went on, it was very clear (to a HR professional who has spent years in HR/TA) that they were not serious about me as a candidate. The structure of who I was meeting with changed 2 times before I arrived, and on the day - they were clearly scrambling to find people to meet with me/interview me. It went from meeting the Director of HR, CPO, and Team Leads to the recruitment team members - again, having the same circular discussion on my experience and expectations - and one product team lead who was clearly annoyed they were asked to do this, and so last minute. It was an embarrassing and upsetting experience, sitting in their canteen for 4 hours being left for extended periods of time with nothing to do. After returning home, I followed up to request information on the status of my candidacy, I followed up again after a week. I did not hear back for a MONTH. And when I did hear back, they simply told me the role was no longer being recruited for.
