The interview process started with a phone screen, much like many do. Elaborating briefly on my experience and what I was looking resulted in HR saying "you sound like just what we're looking for". I then had a video interview with the hiring manager scheduled which went very well. The manager actually came from my current employer about 5 years back. I was asked the basic questions about my current role, what my experiences were, and then a very refreshing section of "scenario-based" questions along the lines of what I would do to improve or fix issues with an existing assay. The hiring manager seemed to like the responses I gave and we left on a good note after going overtime. Lastly, there was an on-site group of interviews scheduled after about a few days to a week after. Communication had been great up until this point and the process was painless, have to give them props. After arriving on-site I had met with 4 members of the department. Questions about equipment and software experience I listed on my resume were asked, more questions about what I'm interested in, what I would like in a position, similar things to that. The day ended with chatting face to face with the hiring manager and answering more technical questions that I feel went well. They offered me a tour of the facility and walked me through the labs, explained some of the perks like free lunches, snacks, break room stuff, etc. I left with a smile on my face thinking everything went quite well. I had no indications I messed up in the interview process or other glaring issues with the meetings. Fast forward almost a month later and I have had zero communication. I followed up after the interview with appreciation, reached out around a week after that expressing interest and asking for a timeline, and one final email after 3 weeks asking for some closure/feedback from the team. Nothing. It leaves a negative impression when both parties invest a significant amount of time and resources into the hiring process and ghosting is still a thing that's happening.
