Art of Problem Solving Curriculum Developer interview questions

The first couple of interviews were pleasant as it seemed like the company cared at least secondarily about closing the digital divide in CS education, even if they are a for-profit agency. I had a take-home assignment to put together a some lesson page for learners at different levels and ages, which was pretty open-ended and allowed me to flex some creativity. However, the last stage of the interview with a software dev really turned me off. The experience made it seem like the company was super elitist and very much the opposite of supporting equity in CS education. I felt I did fine in this more technical portion of the interview, but I also didn’t feel fully comfortable or supported in the process since the interviewer was muted through most of it as I was trying to talk my way through the problems. In the end, the feedback I receive had nothing to do with my performance on the tech portion of the interview. The feedback I received didn’t make much sense at all given how far I’d advanced in the interview process. However, it was a relief when I heard that I wasn’t who they were looking for. The feeling was mutual.

I met people from across the entire company. The day was full from 9am - 5pm, with short breaks and a break for lunch. CEO took time out to talk to me personally.
