1. Phone Screen
2. Take home assignment
3. In-person interview 1 - with the marketing director and team member
4. In-person interview 2 - with the marketing director and CMO
Questionable hiring intent. If you have a fair amount of experience interviewing, then you get an idea about whether a company knows what it wants in a candidate. I noticed that there is a discrepancy between what is written in the job description and what was later discussed during the interviews. Probably they are still trying to figure out what they want in a candidate and have too many decision makers.
The phone screen had basic behavioral questions, going through resume and talking about projects I have worked on. Then a take-home assignment, a bunch of marketing questions about market segmentation and market analysis. Was then called in for an interview after a week. In person interview was casual, we spoke in-depth about the role and the work and how I could contribute. I left thinking it went really well. If the assignment was any representation of the work, there was no doubt that I could do it. Anyway, they said they will let me know next steps in a few days, but it took more than a week, and at this point, I had mentally let go of this opportunity. Then, they got back after more than a week asking to come meet the CMO. This interaction was rather peculiar because of the randomness of the questions and topics we discussed, it was fun, but I am not sure what they were trying to assess. Anyway, they did not come back to me for another 10 days. I later got a mail saying that they have decided to continue their search.
I saw that the job had been posted more than 6 months ago, soo..they have since been interviewing people for this single analyst role and not found a single person who can do this job (?!) I felt that this was a waste of my time.
