Hiring manager sent me a recruiting email, recruiter reached out. We had a very thorough and detailed conversation about my experience. Met with the hiring manager two days later; this is where things got weird. We had one hour together and the hiring manager asked to review my college degree choice, how it applies to my career now, and wanted me to walk them through my TWENTY years of work history. Not once did we get into specifics of the role, how to build out the function, what's needed, where the team is at and how I would approach these challenges. The experience felt very junior.
