Said his supervisor trusted his judgement to make a hiring decision. Conversation immediately became about commission sales, not management. I left without accepting an offer. When I had time to think about it, I couldn’t get away from the possibility that my age was the issue. Felt I was being steered away from a management role based solely on a perception that I was just too old to be an effective manager.
