      Senior Program Manager Interview

      Oct 31, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Washington, DC
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Aspen Institute (Washington, DC) in Aug 2015

      Interview

Met with the leadership of a new program at The Aspen Institute. A pretty straightforward interview process. Although the job description had shifted from more of a generalist role to more of a research-focused role and I wasn't aware until the interview started. Friendly staff, very smart people!

      I interviewed at Aspen Institute

      Interview

I was contacted by a program manager to set up an in-person, first-round interview with the executive director 2 weeks later. It was clear that she had not reviewed my resume before the interview because she seemed to want candidates with an entirely different background. It was a complete waste of my time. I got the impression from prior research and the interview that Aspen is a dysfunctional mess internally, with lots of ego and politics, and a tendency to keep very smart, talented people in terrible, entry-level positions.
